Waste Management Policy

Lord Mahavira College of Education, Hamirgarh (Sangrur)

The college is committed to keeping the campus clean, green, and healthy. All waste generated on the campus is handled responsibly through the following practices:

1. Dry and Wet Waste

• Two types of dustbins are placed across the campus — green bins for wet waste (food waste, garden waste) and blue bins for dry waste (paper, plastic, wrappers).
• Waste is collected separately from these bins every day.
• Collected waste is handed over to the municipal authorities for proper disposal.

 2. Solid Waste

• General solid waste from classrooms, offices, and common areas is collected daily.
• It is segregated before disposal to reduce environmental harm.

 3. E-Waste

• Old and non-functional electronic equipment such as computers, printers, projectors, and cables is stored safely.
• Authorized vendors are called to collect the e-waste.
• E-waste is sold to these vendors for recycling, and new replacements are purchased when needed.

 4. Awareness and Responsibility

• Students, staff, and visitors are encouraged to use the correct bins and avoid littering.
• Regular announcements and reminders are made to follow waste segregation rules.
